I quote from the book, "" Goodmorning, Holy Spirit""....
Words that stunned the Synagogue
Since creation people have been fascinated by the anointing. It has been marvelled at, manifested, and even mimicked. But the true anointing has always been - and still remains - a function of God the Holy Spirit.
What is its purpose? So that you might proclaim the message with power.
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me.
Because the Lord has anointed Me.
To preach good things to the poor;
He has sent me to heal the broken hearted.
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord...""( Isa. 61: 1-2)
But those are not just the words of an Old Testament prophet. Jesus quoted them to a stunned audience at the synagogue in Nazareth(Luke 4:18-19)
You must never forget that to understand the Holy Spirit you must know that He is God. That description may seem foreign to you, but it is as basic as the Word itself.He was the power of creation. Do you recall the words in the book of Job? ""The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of Almighty gives me life""(Job 33:4)
While God the Father was in heavenon the throne of Glory saying,"" Let us make man,"" the Holy Spirit was doing His work on earth. Even the second verse states that at creation"" The Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.(Gen 1:2) And the psalmist,speaking of the creatures on earth, wrote, You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And you renew the face of the earth""(Psalm 104:30).
