Goodevening!
From the Calender,...
If you're considering moving or buying a new home this year, think green in a big way by downsizing your dwelling.Smaller homes use fewer resources all around to heat them and cool them. Fill them with light furniture and keep them painted, polished and clean. Plus, you'll spend less time on upkeep and more time with your loved ones, bonding more because you're sharing less.
Plant an edible garden this year or join a community garden if you dont have your own land. Growing some of your own food and putting land to use is perhaps the single most important environmentalaction you can take.
Perk up your workplace and improve your office air quality at the same time with a nice green plant, which will suck up pollutants, humidify the air, and improve your mood.Plants grow slowly in limited light, so they shouldn't be watered, fertilized, or repotted very often. Check the soil dampness with your finger before you pour it on.
From the earth book....
LUCA: THE SEED OF LIFE
All present life is thought to have evolved from a single-celled organism called LUCA(Last Universal Common Ancestor), which lived 3.6 billion years ago.
A LIVING TREE OF LIFE
Our understanding of life is evolving. Microscopic organisms in particular are poorly understood, and scientists are discovering more about the relationships between the lower branches of the tree. So this tree of life should be seen as a living thing itself, with new shoots capable of sprouting and older branches drying out.
CARL LINNAEUS & THE CLASSIFICATION OF LIVING THINGS
THIS Swedish botanistand zoologist devised our modern naming and classification system for living things. Linnaeus gave each name two parts: one for the genus and one for the species, and both used the Latin language. FOr example, humans are classified as Homo Sapiens, and black rats are called Rattus rattus.
Our best estimate is that about one billion species have existed on Earth, of which 99% are now extinct. However, the remaining 1% is amazingly rich in diversity, from bacteria to blue whales and from mushrooms to Christmas trees. All life is related, and all began from one original single celled speciesin the primordal phase of the planet. We can divide life via brancheson a tree- the big branches represent kingdoms such as plants , animals and bacteria, and the smaller branches represent subdivisions. Even the twigs and leaves at the end can represent mindbogglingly large numbersof species- there are around 5,400 mammal species and one million insect species- but we can only show one example from each.
Have a goodevening!
